BEC is mandated under section 5 of the Botswana Examinations Council Act (Act No 11 of 2002) as amended by the Botswana Examinations Amendment Act, 2019 to manage, conduct examinations and assessments in general education and technical, vocational education and training and to award certificates in respect of the said examinations and assessments.

students to check the result from official website of BEC. Follow the step below to check the results.

  • Step 1: Open the internet browser on your laptop or mobile
  • Step 2: In website Address Type: http://www.bec.co.bw/show_results
  • Step 3: Select “Examination” as “PSLE | JCE | BGCSE”
  • Step 4: Select “Year” as “2021/2022” ( You can select between 2009 to 2021/2022)
  • Step 5: Enter you Exam “The center number”
  • Step 6: Enter “The student’s candidate number”
  • Step 7: Now Enter ” The student’s surname”
  • Final Step: Click on “Show Result” Button.

Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) Certificates:

  • The Botswana Examinations Council will inform the public that the 2021/2022 Certificates (BGCSE, JCE and PSLE) despatch date. All school candidates (Government and Private) are therefore requested to contact their Schools/Centres to collect the certificates after the release date. The certificates will be kept in the schools for a period of 24 months before they are returned to Botswana Examinations Council.
  • It is also to be noted that the release of the certificates invalidates the Statement of Results, which was issued provisionally after the release of results. : Candidates will be able to access the results through the BEC Website as well as through SMS it will cost some Botswana Pula (BWP).

Botswana Examinations Council is committed to upholding the principles of good corporate governance, among others, independence, transparency, sustainability, accountability and integrity. Botswana Examinations Council has divisions of Quality Assurance and Internal Audit which helps to ensure that internal controls are continually reviewed and adhered to for purposes of strengthening corporate governance.

 

 

Governance – The Board

The Board of the BEC was established in terms of the BEC Act and is made up of 14 members appointed by the Minister of Basic Education. The BEC has a unitary Board structure, where the Council is comprised of exclusively Non-Executive Members with the Exception of the Executive Secretary. The Council consists of representatives from the Ministry of Basic Education, Botswana Open University, Botswana Qualifications Authority, Human Resources Development Council, Directorate of the Public Service Management, Botswana Police, the Public and Private sector, Teacher organisations, University of Botswana and the Public. In the execution of its duties the Board is guided by a Board Charter, which amongst others, clearly sets out the Board’s role, duties and responsibilities. How do I get this service?

After a public notification that results are released, they can be accessed through;BEC BGCSE Results 2022/2023 Botswana | www.bec.co.bw 

 

A) Text message (sms)

  • For BGCSE: Compose a text message (sms) comprising;  Center number, candidate number, candidate surname (include space between the parameters) and send sms to 16688. Example: BW500 0001 Moithuti 
  • For JCE: Compose a text message (sms) comprising ;  Examination level, Center number, candidate number, candidate surname (include space between the parameters) and send sms to 16688. Example: JCE JC0500 0001 Moithuti 
  • For PSLE: Compose a text message (sms) comprising of;  Examination level, Center number, candidate number, candidate surname (include space between the parameters) and send sms to 16688. Example: PSLE PS0500 0001 Moithuti
