job summary

The case manager is responsible for securing safe and affordable housing for refugees and migrants served by the project, building relationships with property owners and managers, and informing them about our outreach programs. mobility and lead the Network of friendly landlords. In addition, the housing coordinator is responsible for organizing the installation and monitoring of families. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent organizational, prioritization and planning skills, impeccable communication skills, a strong understanding of the local context and the ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment. The candidate will also need to possess strong negotiation and diplomatic skills and the ability to skillfully interact with a variety of different stakeholders. This position will report to the Program Officer and will have a working relationship with the Director of Programs, Finance and Administration Officer, and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.

Responsibilities:

  •  Conducts outreach activities to establish new relationships with prospective landlords and property managers, maintains positive relationships with local landlords, landlords, and property management companies.
  • Secures initial accommodation for all refugees by visiting properties, conducting security inspections, submitting accommodation applications, and booking temporary accommodation, if necessary.
  • It articulates with the national and local government in the areas of community management to facilitate safe coexistence in the sectors of arrival of the refugee and migrant population.
  • Lies with landlords during housing negotiations, lease signing, and initial move-in.
  • Obtains and organizes donated and purchased household items, using keen judgment to obtain the best rates on purchases made on behalf of clients.
  • Completes and submits for approval all purchase applications related to the home, including, but not limited to, rent, security deposit, application fees, lease transfer fees, etc.
  • Tracks in-kind donations, maintains inventory, and organizes storage areas.
  • Document all housing services in clients’ case notes. Record all financial transactions in customer financial tracking records. Prepares and includes housing documentation in client files, including, but not limited to, home safety assessment forms, lease agreements, and financial paperwork.
  • Coordinates network of friendly landlords and regularly maintains and updates records of associated property managers and available housing units.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality in managing records to ensure the dignity and privacy of participants.
  • It ensures that key learnings during project execution are captured and used in the design of future projects.
  • Directs the preparation of quality and timely reports on program activities as required (internal and external).
  • Provides regular reports to the Program Director, including precise figures of distributions/referrals made and challenges encountered, in the agreed format.
  • Contributes to the development of proposals and concept notes to strengthen the strategy.
  • Verifies that all project documents are available, accurate, and archived in electronic and paper formats according to organization procedures.
  • Develops, coordinates, and strengthens relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and communities in order to maintain confidence in the professional level and quality of PADF’s work among all stakeholders.
  • Performs all tasks in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Work a varied schedule and occasional weekends.
  • Assesses the nature and status of projects and makes helpful suggestions to the team on best practices and strategies to apply in project execution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the program director.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field or 5 years of work experience in a similar position.
  • Management of negotiation techniques.
  • Case management and follow-up.
  • It is desirable that you have knowledge and experience in the field of migration and international protection.
  • Experience in grant coordination, financial tracking, and monitoring and evaluation is required.
  • Excellent command of the Spanish language, and a working and fluent knowledge of the English language is desirable.
  • Ability to effectively prepare clear and concise reports, strategies and/or proposals.
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Word Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Canvas and google. etc.
