Position:                     Cloud and Network Engineer 

Location:                    New York, NY / Hybrid

FLSA Status:              Exempt

Salary:                        NYC’s minimum salary for this position is $80,000. This may be adjusted to reflect the cost of labor of a candidate’s work location, if outside of NYC.

 

 

Position Description 

 

In this exciting and fast-paced role, you will help UNICEF USA in its ongoing move to the cloud. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of our cloud infrastructure with a particular focus on the Microsoft Azure cloud.

 

You will work closely with the entire Technology Division to support the design, administration, automation, and deployments of cloud infrastructure. This position influences all aspects of a customer cloud deployment, including IaaS, PaaS, WAN, LAN networking, and backup/replication technologies. You should have technical experience designing and building infrastructure and applications for scalability, resiliency, availability, and recovery to maintain our 24/7 mission-critical services. In critical incidents or outages, this role and other technical team members are expected to participate in incident response procedures and provide timely resolution.

 

You should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work across teams to create optimal business solutions. You should also communicate effectively with team members, leadership, cloud vendors, and service providers.

 

 

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

 

• Delivery of cloud infrastructure strategies aligned with business objectives

• Deploy, administer, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure (e.g. OS patching, backup/restore operations, firewall management, incident, and vulnerability response)

• Provide network administration, support, and troubleshooting of firewalls, WAN, and LAN technologies

• Monitor network and cloud environment performance, uptime, and report on relevant metrics

• Design, develop and implement integrations between cloud platforms and enterprise applications

• Assist with administration and troubleshooting of enterprise applications

• Work with an integrated DevSecOps mindset in collaboration with the Cybersecurity, Enterprise Applications, Governance, and Data teams to identify opportunities for improved cloud and data security

• Research and provide recommendations on cloud infrastructure best practices, methodologies, and techniques · Design, implement and support infrastructure automation tools

• Support Operations and Security & Compliance teams in all areas of operations security, and ensure compliance with internal security policies and procedures

• Communicate to and assist end-users, analysts, and other technical team members in troubleshooting network connectivity, security, performance, and service availability issues.

 

 

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

• Experience with Microsoft Azure and M365, Active Directory, and Azure Active Directory

• Experience with Networking equipment (e.g. Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, Next Generation Firewalls)

• Experience with network and infrastructure monitoring and analysis tools

• Experience with infrastructure resilience, backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity

• Experience with scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python)

• Familiarity with automation and provisioning tools (e.g. Chef/Puppet/Terraform)

• Familiarity with Cloud SaaS collaboration tools (e.g. Slack, Zoom)

 

 

Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent combination of education and relevant technology experience

• Three years of network infrastructure experience (firewalls, load balancers, DNS, etc.)

• Minimum three years of experience with cloud infrastructure technologies, Microsoft Azure preferred

• Desired not required certifications, Security+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) (all are not expected)

• Strong understanding of network and cloud infrastructure technologies to deliver end-to-end architectures and design (Network, servers, storage, data, and applications)

• Coding and scripting experience

• Experience with Windows Server OS configuration, automation, and management

• Solutions-oriented, curious, and self-motivated

• Strong customer service orientation

• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and efficiently

• Excellent technical analysis and problem-solving skills

• Exceptional documentation, communication, and reporting skills

• Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels and parts of the organization

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and flexibility to adopt priorities and communicate blockers

• Ability to travel to Office HQ 15% to 25% as needed
