She is in charge of the accounting and administrative management of the binational project financed by GEF, with an intervention zone in Guatemala and Honduras. Its headquarters will be located in Cobán, Alta Verapaz, where it guarantees internal customer service and well-documented, transparent and reliable accounting administrative activities.

  1. Support in the preparation of Project information for decision making and strategic actions F&A of the PN.
  1. Propose, formulate and implement internal control tools and instruments; based on the global requirements and policies of the institution and those defined by the Management Council.
  2. Support in the presentation of investment estimates for new projects, according to the requested aspects.
  • Support in the management of new projects before potential donors.
  1. Provide information and support in the preparation of financial planning tools with information from projects in the northern region.
  2. Generate relationships of trust and professionals with counterparts, aimed at strengthening alliances that facilitate the execution of projects.


  1. Systematically coordinate and operationalize administrative, accounting and financial aspects of projects.
  2. Ensure technical support and “accounting, financial and administrative” accompaniment to the executing entity (indirect projects) in the Northern Region.
  3. Participate and/or represent F&A, in project follow-up meetings, negotiations with donors, knowledge of counterparts and others as designated by the immediate supervisor.
  • Support in the identification of necessary resources for the operation of the Projects and participate in the Negotiations with the Central Office.
  1. Review the requests for funds and verify them with the activities of the project to ensure that its execution is consistent with its Annual Operating Plan.
  2. Accompany verification visits during the management/knowledge stage of the project requesting Organization.
  3. Review the accounting file of the projects in the North region, according to the M&A requirements.
  • Review settlements and surrenders of the region, including the management of petty cash. Periodically carry out surprise bows.
  • Issue an opinion regarding the congruence between what is reported through reports and the work carried out by the counterparts “in the field”.
  1. Contribute to achieve efficient Operations in the National Program Ensure that responsible management standards are maintained within the actions of Projects.
  2. Support in other assigned tasks (mobilizing foreigners, logistical support at events, maintenance of facilities, etc.)
  3. Socialize with the rest of the staff, aspects related to formats, control mechanisms, requirements, personal taxes, used for the proper management of Project operations.
  4. Perform timely accountability, issuance of reports and financial reports, and comprehensive accounting management. reviews all Project accounting records in the Agresso accounting system.
  5. Keeps updated the auxiliary control of assets under custody of the staff of the Northern Region area.
  6. Constantly monitors progress in project budget execution to compare it with what is planned in POAs.
  • Prepares report of projected bank balances of project checkbooks.
  1. It promotes permanent communication, coordination and flow of information to improve existing controls.
  2. Apply updates derived from rules and regulations of a legal nature (tax, tax and labor), of which the PN is subject.
  3. Prepares various financial reports on: a) Budget execution, b) Budget projections, c) Bank liquidity reports and d) Others that are required by the Project Officer.
  • Ensures keeping updated the inventory of goods delivered to the staff of the North region.
  • Ensure compliance with activities related to External Audit in Projects
  • Provides supporting information that allows the clarification and/or confirmation of audit findings.
  1. It unconditionally supports the implementation plan that is defined, to meet the recommendations derived from the external audit.
  2. Makes and organizes work teams to make the field verification visits and prepare the monitoring report which must be shared with the partners, to implement improvements prior to carrying out external audits.
  3. Attend training, workshops or practices related to systems management (Agresso, PMD-PRO, others).

Minimum requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or closed pensum in Economic Sciences, preferably Accounting and Auditing (CPA) or Business Administration
  2. English language proficiency (desirable).
  3. 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  4. Ideally direct experience in financial administration of binational projects, Honduras – Guatemala, managed by international organizations.
  5. Know how to prepare executive reports of budget execution.
  6. POA administration.
