Overview of the Functions of the Post: The Senior Consultant will lead a research report on climate transition within the MOST Project, funded by the La Caixa Foundation. This project aims to investigate the social impacts of climate change and the equitable transition to green economies, with a focus on vulnerable groups. The consultant will coordinate the production of the annual report, which will include quantitative analysis, case studies, and policy recommendations.

Assignment: Under the guidance of the Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences Sector (ADG/SHS), the incumbent will:

  • Develop a detailed concept note and outline of the report chapters.
  • Coordinate with researchers and writers and ensure timely delivery of high-quality analysis and case studies.
  • Design the structure and thematic content of the publication.
  • Ensure the publication meets high standards and effectively communicates with policy-making audiences.
  • Contribute to the organization of a high-level event for the report launch.
  • Report internally and externally on the project’s progress and impact.

  1. Concept Note: April 30th
  2. Inception Report: May 30th
  3. First Draft Report: July 15th
  4. Second Draft Report: September 30th
  5. Final Draft: November 15th

Required Qualifications:

Education: Master or PhD degree in social sciences (PhD preferred) or relevant field.

Work experience: a minimum of 10 years in the social sciences, with at least 5 years in climate transitions or sustainability.

Skills and Competencies: Excellent knowledge of the knowledge-policy nexus, sustainability, and inequalities. Familiarity with the UN system is advantageous. Languages: fluency in English; knowledge of French is desirable.
