Senior Programmes Coordinator (Mat Cover)

Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Programmes Coordinator (Mat Cover) to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The role will be worked on a hybrid schedule, consisting of 3 days in office and 2 days working from home. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of a 1-year fixed term contract with and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £32-38k per annum.

As Senior Programmes Coordinator (Mat Cover), the successful candidate will play an integral role in providing oversight of and support to allocated field offices in all operational and financial matters as well as leading on the portfolio management of Human Appeal’s programmatic activities with local partners across the region. We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Programmes Coordinator (Mat Cover):
• Work closely with Country Directors to provide management and oversight of FOs (field offices) and to provide guidance and direction for staff and operations in order to develop FO, strengthen, and maximise impact of programmes.
• Develop the capacity of the Programmes department, including contributing to strategy development at a global, regional and country level
• Provide grant management support to FOs/LPs (local partners) including proposal writing and budget and narrative reporting for donor accountability
• Oversee LP performance and delivery of capacity building as-required through calling for regular meetings and progress report which assess project performance against objectives to ensure the partners are capable to implement the project
• Act as the key point of liaison between the institutional funding and strategic partnerships unit at HQ and the FO’s/LPs for efficient project management
• Take responsibility for project management in the allocated countries by working closely and supporting staff in the field/partner offices to ensure appropriate resource allocation (both financial and human) and successful delivery of all projects including large and/or complex projects  
• Ensure the successful delivery of projects through effective monitoring of projects, appropriate management of field staff, and clear evaluation to measure effectiveness of interventions for evidence-based learning and to design new projects.
• Travel to the field to undertake scoping or evaluation missions, meet with team for capacity building, and network with stakeholders including UN agencies and government officials where necessary.
• Monitor trends and developments in relevant policy areas, update internal colleagues of these developments and where relevant influence the direction of these developments in line with Human Appeal priorities
• To be available for HA’s response to humanitarian crises or natural disasters and provide the necessary support to HA departments and FOs/LPs

What we’re looking for in our Senior Programmes Coordinator (Mat Cover):
• Degree educated (ideally to Master’s level) in a related field, such as International Development 
• At least 4 years’ experience working in Programme Coordination at an INGO with at least 1 years’ experience at Senior Coordinator or Manager level 
• Experience working with, and delivering on, bids from high-profile institutional funding bodies including UN, DfiD, GIZ, USAid
• Experience of delivering long-term projects
• Experience of developing Field Office strategy 
• Experience of managing a Field Office response during a disaster
• Experience of managing at least 5 large-scale projects at any one time
• Computer literate and experienced in MS Office Suite. Experience using Salesforce is desirable
• At least 1 additional fluent language pertaining to HA Field Office countries (i.e. Arabic, Bengali, French, Pashto, Urdu, Swahili) is desirable 
• Must be passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector
