Result of Service:

The incumbent will ensure timely processing of expense reports, vendor payments, and other financial tasks. They will liaise with HR and Budget Unit for fund commitments for UN Volunteers (UNVs) and coordinate with UNDP Volunteer Programme coordinator. The assistant will also maintain accurate financial and administrative records.

6 Months

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with UNDP Volunteer Programme coordinators regarding financial aspects of UNV contracts.
  • Establish fund commitments to ESCWA UNVs and coordinate issuance of contracts with HR and budget team.
  • Assist in processing and analyzing expense reports, ensuring accuracy and communicating discrepancies.
  • Communicate Financial Authorization with UNDP office for relevant actions.
  • Update unit SOPs in alignment with policies and guidelines.
  • Process and review payments to vendors, scrutinizing documents and following up on discrepancies.
  • Coordinate payments with Treasury Unit and notify payees of payment status.
  • Record and reconcile complex accounting transactions, ensuring proper clearance procedures.
  • Respond to queries from staff members and third parties.
  • Run queries on Business Intelligence (BI) tools, extract data, develop reports, and prepare presentations.
  • Draft routine correspondence related to financial and budgetary matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date files.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, administration, or related area.
  • Minimum of 13 years of professional work experience in accounting, finance, and/or administrative fields.

Languages:

Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
