The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Economic Affairs Officer on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled professionals to contribute to the organization’s work in promoting sustainable development and inclusive globalization.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis on economic issues, including trade, finance, investment, and sustainable development.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, policy briefs, and other documents on economic trends and developments.
  • Provide support in organizing conferences, seminars, and other events related to economic affairs.
  • Liaise with government officials, international organizations, and other stakeholders to gather information and coordinate activities.
  • Contribute to the formulation of technical assistance projects and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, international relations, or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in economic analysis, research, or related field is required.
  • Familiarity with economic theories, principles, and concepts, particularly in the areas of trade and development.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise reports.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
