About the Position:

  • Position: Data Analyst
  • Grade: P3
  • Duty Station: Geneva, Switzerland
  • Commencement of Duty: To be determined
  • Nature of Appointment: Fixed-term – 2 years
  • Organizational Unit: Monitoring, Evaluation, Risk and Planning (MERP) Office, Cabinet Office of the Secretary-General

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Data Analyst at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), you will:

  • Design and implement a robust monitoring data management framework.
  • Develop and maintain databases of monitoring data, enhancing existing data repositories and sharing tools.
  • Manage data collection tools and storage systems, providing training and support to users.
  • Implement strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Develop reports and compelling visualizations for senior management, governance bodies, Members, and the wider public.
  • Apply innovative methods and technologies to identify trends and patterns in complex data sources.
  • Foster a data-driven culture at WMO by applying strong data governance practices.


  • Education: Masters degree or equivalent in computer science, business administration, engineering, statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, or related areas.
  • Skills: Proficiency in database and programming languages (SQL, Python, R), GIS data visualization software (PowerBI, Tableau, ArcGIS), and data collection systems (ODK, NVivo, Qualtrics).
  • Other Requirements: Integrity, responsibility, initiative, excellent analytical and communication skills, ability to work in a multicultural environment.


Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization is an advantage.

Salary and Allowances:

  • Annual Net Base Salary: US$ 64,121
  • Annual Post Adjustment: US$ 57,517 (in addition to the net base salary)
