About DEMAC (Diaspora Emergency Action and Coordination):
DEMAC is a global initiative hosted by DRC aimed at enhancing coordination among diaspora organizations involved in humanitarian assistance. It seeks to increase engagement and visibility for diaspora organizations in the humanitarian system and to facilitate coordination among diaspora, local actors, and institutional humanitarian actors.

About the Job:
The DEMAC Emergency Coordinator will oversee the daily implementation of DEMAC’s operational response activities. This role involves coordination, project management, representation, program development, and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate DEMAC’s operational response activities globally
  • Strengthen the visibility and awareness of diaspora humanitarian responders
  • Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the implementation of DEMAC’s operational responses
  • Represent DEMAC towards external stakeholders and relevant humanitarian coordination bodies
  • Ensure compliance with donor and partnership agreements
  • Further develop DEMAC’s methodology for operational response
  • Engage closely with diaspora and local actors to understand needs and gaps in humanitarian response

Requirements:

  • University degree in social sciences, humanitarian action, international development, or related field
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience working with Civil Society Organizations or project management/coordination in humanitarian contexts
  • Solid experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, and report-writing
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills in English
  • Experience working with a range of donors, especially USAID
  • Ability to facilitate dialogue among diverse groups
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Arabic, Somali, Urdu, Farsi, Russian, Ukrainian) is an advantage

Reporting:
The Emergency Coordinator will report to the Head of DEMAC.

Offer:

  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Contract duration: Until May 2025 (with possible extension depending on funding)
  • Location: Copenhagen or a relevant DRC office with frequent travel
  • Salary and conditions: According to DRC terms
