How You Can Make a Difference:

As an Education Specialist – Country Support Coordinator, you will play a vital role in providing technical and programmatic support to the Gender at the Center Initiative (GCI) in Mali. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Technical Advice and Support:

  • Providing technical leadership to mainstream gender equality in education systems.
  • Supporting Ministries of Education and Local Education Groups to assess gender equality in education.
  • Promoting inter-ministerial collaboration and providing targeted support to develop gender-sensitive initiatives.

2. Coordination, Networking, and Partnership Building:

  • Building strong work relationships with education stakeholders, donor representatives, and partners.
  • Supporting young feminist activists and coordinating with relevant organizations.
  • Participating in meetings to explore new partnerships and represent UNGEI and GCI.

3. Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building:

  • Providing technical advice on capacity building initiatives related to gender mainstreaming in education.
  • Organizing capacity building activities and facilitating knowledge sharing events.
  • Leading on knowledge management of GCI activities and results and supporting research and advocacy initiatives.

4. Program Management, Monitoring, and Delivery of Results:

  • Leading project management for GCI grants and tracking results.
  • Supporting indicator identification and performance tracking related to GCI outcomes.
  • Contributing to program management documents and supporting colleagues as needed.


  • Advanced university degree in education, social sciences, international development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in education programming, with experience working with Ministries of Education.
  • Experience in gender mainstreaming and working in GCI countries is preferred.
  • Fluency in English and French is required.
