The Department of Operational Support is seeking an engineer to work in field locations. The engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support for various engineering projects and activities.


  1. Plan, design, and oversee construction and maintenance projects in field locations.
  2. Conduct site assessments and surveys to determine project requirements and feasibility.
  3. Develop engineering designs, drawings, and specifications in accordance with project objectives and standards.
  4. Coordinate with project stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and other relevant parties.
  5. Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  6. Provide technical guidance and support to field staff and project teams.
  7. Identify and assess risks, and implement mitigation measures as necessary.
  8. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations as required.
  9. Stay updated on relevant engineering trends, technologies, and best practices.
  10. Collaborate with other departments and organizations to support integrated project delivery and coordination.


  1. Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, including project management and field operations.
  3. A professional engineering license or certification is desirable.
  4. Strong technical skills in engineering design, analysis, and problem-solving.
  5. Experience working in challenging field environments and multicultural settings.
  6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  7. Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
  8. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  9. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
