Job Summary:
UNICEF is seeking an Information Management Officer (IMO) to establish information management systems for the activated Nutrition Cluster at the national level in Ethiopia. The IMO will adapt existing information management approaches, maintain databases, support data analysis, and facilitate decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to the information needs of Cluster participants.
  • Adapt existing information management approaches to cluster activities and resources.
  • Establish and maintain databases to consolidate, analyze, and report/disseminate critical information.
  • Ensure monthly reporting from cluster participants, including 5Ws databases.
  • Support the estimation of spatial and temporal gaps, overlaps, and coverage of cluster activities.
  • Identify information gaps at national and sub-national levels and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with OCHA Information Management Specialist to develop supportive strategies.
  • Utilize GIS mapping for map production and geographic data management.
  • Promote global standards for information management and interoperability.
  • Manage information flows and dissemination, including website management.
  • Maintain an inventory of relevant documents on the humanitarian situation.
  • Support development and analysis of needs assessment and monitoring programs.
  • Lead preparation of SitRep inputs with emphasis on Cluster plans, targets, and achievements.
  • Strengthen information management capacity through training.
  • Contribute to core cluster functions.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Advanced university degree in information management, information systems, GIS, information technologies, computer science, or related fields. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a master’s degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in information management, data management, GIS, assessments, or data analysis with UN and/or NGOs, including experience in the first phase of major emergency response relevant to the cluster.
  • Knowledge and experience in Adobe and ArcGIS are desirable.
  • Technical experience in innovative technology, data management, and training is highly desirable.
  • Strong information management skills in a professional context are essential.
  • Experience working in the humanitarian coordination system is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
