Result of Service: The Social Media Assistant will ensure that timely and relevant products are disseminated on Prevention Web and UNDRR social media channels. This includes creating and scheduling posts, engaging with the audience, and monitoring social media analytics to inform content strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Create and schedule social media posts for PreventionWeb and UNDRR channels, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  2. Monitor social media channels for relevant discussions, trends, and news related to disaster risk reduction and resilience.
  3. Engage with the audience by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  4. Collaborate with team members to develop and implement social media campaigns and strategies to increase engagement and reach.
  5. Monitor social media analytics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  6. Stay updated on social media trends, tools, and best practices to enhance UNDRR’s social media presence.
  7. Provide support in drafting social media reports and presentations as needed.

Qualifications/special skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, international relations, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of disaster risk reduction or related fields is an asset.

Languages: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other UN official languages is an advantage.
