Org. Setting and Reporting:

This position is situated within the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). The Staff Counselor will directly report to the Chief Service Delivery Management of UNMIK.

Responsibilities:

The Staff Counselor will be responsible for:

  • Providing counseling services to UNMIK staff members on personal and work-related issues.
  • Conducting individual counseling sessions to address stress, work-life balance, interpersonal conflicts, and other psychological concerns.
  • Facilitating group counseling sessions and workshops on topics such as stress management, resilience building, and conflict resolution.
  • Developing and implementing mental health and well-being initiatives and programs for UNMIK staff.
  • Collaborating with relevant departments and agencies to promote a supportive work environment and enhance staff well-being.

  • Professionalism: Demonstrated expertise in providing counseling services, with a strong understanding of psychological principles and practices.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Empathy: Compassionate and empathetic approach towards addressing the needs and concerns of staff members.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Flexibility: Adaptability to changing circumstances and willingness to adjust counseling approaches as needed.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.

Job-Specific Qualification:

  • Professional certification/license in counseling or clinical psychology.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in counseling or clinical psychology, including experience working in multicultural settings.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.

Assessment:

  • Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and/or competency-based interview.
