The Kenya Official Examinations Council is the national agency in charge of overseeing Kenyan national examinations. Professor John Onsati is the current chairman. In 1980, the Kenya National Examinations Council Act, Cap 225A of the Kenyan Laws, formed this council.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results for 2022 have been revealed.

The findings are currently accessible online. Candidates who took the examination can access their results in three ways:

candidates must send their Index Number to the number 20076.

The service is accessible via the networks of the three network providers in the nation, namely Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom. Send the SMS using the IndexNumberKCPE format.

Results Slips and Printed Versions
Each institution that submits candidates for KNEC examinations will receive a printed copy of the institution’s examination results printout and result slips, which contain the following information:

Code and Name of the Institution
This shows on the printout’s upper left corner. The institution code is a unique number used by the Council to identify an examination centre.

This is the number an institution should always reference when corresponding with KNEC.

Candidate Specifics

Below the institution’s name and code are candidates’ information. These statistics include the candidate’s index number, examination year, gender, individual subject grades, and the average grade.

Important characteristics of the examination outcomes are as follows:

X – represents an absent candidate. A candidate is deemed absent if he or she did not sit for any or all examination papers. Nonetheless, for the KCPE test results, the character AB implies a candidate’s absence, but the symbol Y- indicates that the candidate was implicated in an examination irregularity.

 

For the KCPE examination results, the symbol 00 indicates an irregularity; P- denotes that the candidate’s examination results have been pended due to infringement on the entry requirements for the examination, e.g. incorrect KCPE details for entry in KCSE examination; W- denotes that the candidate’s examination results have been withheld on suspicion that the candidate has been involved in examination malpractice and investigations are ongoing; 00 indicates an irregularity; P- denotes that the candidate’s
U- signifies ungraded examination results resulting from a violation of the award criteria.
Standardized Grade Descriptions
If a candidate is absent from all subjects, the mean grade will be X.
If one or more courses are cancelled, the mean grade will be Y.
If the admission requirements for the KCSE examination are not met, the average grade will be U.
If the course criteria for the Teacher education, Business, and Technical tests are not met, the average grade will be CRNM.

 

The average grade will be P if results are pending.
If the exam results are withheld, the average grade will be a W.
The details of pended, withheld, and irregularities are communicated to the institution through the Sub County Director of Education at the time of examination results release, and are received by the institution simultaneously with the examination results.

 

 

The Issuance Of Certificates
Once certificates for a particular examination are ready for collection or shipment by KNEC, the institutions shall be notified via the mass and print media, Sub County Directors of Education, and/or institution heads.

All certificates for regular candidates are issued by Heads of Schools/Institutions, whereas all certificates for private candidates are granted by Sub County Directors of Education.

The Kenya National Examinations Council maintains the right to remove a certificate for amendment or for any other reason should this be necessary.

Upon the official publication of KCPE and KCSE examination results, candidates will be able to check their scores through an SMS number.

Candidates for the KCPE are supposed to access their result slips on the KNEC website immediately following the exam’s release at their individual schools.
