List of 31 Regions in Tanzania (Mikoa ya Tanzania)

Tanzania had 26 regions in 1975. The Ziwa Magharibi Region (West Lake Region) was renamed Kagera Region in the 1970s. Manyara Region was formed in 2002 from a portion of Arusha Region. Geita, Katavi, Njombe, and Simiyu were established in 2012. Songwe Region was formed in 2016 from the western portion of Mbeya Region.
