Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) (Swahili: Shirikisho la Mpira wa Miguu Tanzania), formerly known as the Football Association of Tanzania, is the country’s governing organization of football. It is in charge of the Tanzania national football team, the Tanzania women’s national team, and the Tanzanian football league system, which includes the Tanzanian Premier League, the Tanzanian First Division League (Championship), the First League, and the Regional Champions League. It was created in 1945 and has been a FIFA member since 1964. As of 2017, Wallace Karia is the President of the Tanzania Football Federation.

Academy
Tanzania Football Federation, in collaboration with Peter Johnson, established the Tanzania Soccer Institution (TSA) in January 2008, a national academy to develop football and grant complete education scholarships to athletes.

National football stadium
The National Main Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is a multi-purpose stadium. It was built next to Uhuru Stadium, the old national stadium, and opened in 2007. It hosts big football matches such as the Tanzanian Premier League and the Tanzania national football team’s home matches.

 

 

Tanzania National Football Team

Tanzania’s national football team (Swahili: Timu ya Taifa ya Mpira wa Miguu ya Tanzania) represents Tanzania in men’s international football and is controlled by the Tanzania Football Federation, the country’s governing body for football. Tanzania’s home stadium is Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar-es-Salaam, and their head coach is Dean Alty from Tanzania. They are commonly referred to as the Taifa Stars. Tanzania has never been to the FIFA World Cup. Prior to joining Zanzibar, the squad was known as the Tanganyika national football team. The team is affiliated with both FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The island of Zanzibar, which is part of Tanzania (and was once an independent nation), is also an associate member of CAF and has played matches against other countries, although it is not eligible to compete in the World Cup or Africa Cup of Nations. See National Football Team of Zanzibar.
