Description

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, focuses on private sector development in emerging markets. The Transaction Advisory Department (CTA) comprises the Public Private Partnership (PPP) and Corporate Finance Services (CFS) divisions. The PPP division provides sell-side financial advisory services to governments for PPP and privatization transactions. The CFS division offers transaction advisory services to private sector clients, focusing on Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) advisory solutions. The CTA Africa team seeks an Associate Investment Officer (AIO) for its East Africa (EA) sub-regional team to support PPP transaction processes.

Roles and Responsibilities

The AIO will support advisory mandates, including business development, client interactions, due diligence management, financial analysis and modeling, preparation of documentation, marketing to potential investors, coordination with internal teams and stakeholders, project execution, and other related activities.

Selection Criteria

Education & Experience:

  • MBA or equivalent Post Graduate degree in business, finance, or economics.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in project finance, corporate finance, M&A, or private equity funds in infrastructure.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in sell-side PPP advisory is a plus.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure transactions/PPPs, preferably in Africa.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Business development and client relationship skills.
  • Track record of contractual and financial closings of infrastructure transactions.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling/structuring skills.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently.
  • Experience in dealing with government clients, investors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in large, culturally diverse teams and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, as required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is a plus.
