Standard Job Description

Organizational Setting and Work Relationships: As an Associate Programme Officer, you will provide programmatic guidance and support for the implementation of protection and solutions strategies. You’ll work closely with other sections/units to ensure harmonized programmatic approaches and contribute to UNHCR’s strategic priorities.

Duties:

  • Assess and analyze the needs of persons of concern in a participatory manner.
  • Support in developing multi-year protection and solutions strategies.
  • Assist in Results Based Management and program capacity building.
  • Contribute to planning processes and ensure compliance with planning parameters.
  • Support in revising and analyzing plans and reports, ensuring quality assurance and compliance.
  • Assist in broadening partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistent monitoring approaches and systems.
  • Actively participate in UNHCR’s programming community of practice.
  • Oversee follow-up of internal and external audits observations related to programmatic issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • For P2/NOB: 3 years relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or 2 years relevant experience with Graduate degree; or 1 year relevant experience with Doctorate degree

Desired Candidate Profile

Nature of the Position: As an Associate Programme Officer based in Sub Office Kosti, you’ll provide programmatic support for the implementation of multiyear strategic plans. You’ll coordinate with various stakeholders, draft project plans, manage partnership agreements, and ensure participation of relevant stakeholders in program management.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Knowledge of UN/UNHCR financial rules and policies.
  • Ability to produce results within short deadlines.
  • Excellent report writing and analysis skills.
  • Experience in planning, budgeting, and project management.
  • Ability to conduct capacity building trainings.
  • Proficiency in planning and budgeting tools/software.
  • Experience in needs assessments involving stakeholders.
  • Good team player with supervisory skills.
