Description:

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) seeks a Climate Change Adaptation Consultant to bolster activities in the Latin America and Caribbean region (UNEP-LACO). The consultant, stationed in Panama City, will operate under UNEP’s regional office.


Responsibilities:

  1. Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive research on climate change impacts, vulnerabilities, and adaptation measures in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
  2. Project Support:
    • Assist in the development and execution of climate change adaptation projects and initiatives in collaboration with governmental and non-governmental entities.
  3. Technical Assistance:
    • Provide technical guidance and capacity-building support to regional countries on adaptation planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  4. Documentation and Communication:
    • Prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials on climate change adaptation for both internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Event Coordination:
    • Assist in organizing workshops, seminars, and other events to raise awareness and build consensus on adaptation priorities and actions.
  6. Stakeholder Liaison:
    • Establish and maintain effective communication with relevant partners and stakeholders, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  7. Other Duties:
    • Undertake any additional responsibilities as delegated by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental science, climate change, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in climate change adaptation or environmental management.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish required; knowledge of Portuguese or French desirable.
  • National of Panama or legal resident with the right to work in Panama.
