Overview:

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Concept Note Consultant with expertise in the water and agriculture sectors. This consultant will play a crucial role in developing concept notes to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development in these key sectors.

Responsibilities:

  1. Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis on environmental issues related to water and agriculture, identifying key challenges, opportunities, and best practices.

  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, academia, and private sector partners, to gather inputs and insights for the development of concept notes.

  3. Concept Note Development: Draft concept notes outlining proposed initiatives, projects, or policies to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices in the water and agriculture sectors.

  4. Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise and guidance on environmental considerations, including water conservation, sustainable agriculture practices, and ecosystem management.

  5. Documentation: Prepare clear and concise documentation of concept notes, ensuring alignment with UNEP’s strategic objectives and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Education: Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Water Resources Management, or related field.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience working in the water and agriculture sectors, with a focus on environmental sustainability and development.

  • Expertise: Strong understanding of environmental issues related to water and agriculture, as well as knowledge of relevant policies, regulations, and international frameworks.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.

  • Language: Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly French, is an advantage.
