Position Title: Consultant, Data and Insights Communications Coordinator
Duty Station: Geneva, Switzerland
Classification: Consultant, Grade Other
Type of Appointment: Consultant, six months

Context:
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. The Consultant-Data and Insights Communications Coordinator will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals, provide guidance on data utilization, and enhance staff analytical skills through training workshops.

Organizational Department / Unit:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Department of Media and Communications, the consultant will spearhead the design, implementation, and analysis of data collection exercises to optimize communication strategies at IOM.

Core Functions/RResponsibilities:

  1. Design and conduct regular data collection exercises.
  2. Analyze the collected data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  3. Produce comprehensive reports outlining key findings and recommendations.
  4. Collaborate closely with departments to align data collection efforts with organizational objectives.
  5. Provide guidance and support to colleagues on utilizing data for communication activities.
  6. Develop training materials and conduct workshops to enhance data literacy.
  7. Stay updated on emerging trends in data analysis and communication strategies.
  8. Develop and implement systems for collecting, storing, and analyzing data.
  9. Collaborate with IT and relevant departments for seamless integration of data systems.

Performance Indicators for Evaluation:

  • Timely and accurate collection of communication data.
  • Delivery of insightful reports informing strategic decision-making.
  • Successful implementation of data-driven communication strategies.
  • Positive feedback from stakeholders on the support provided in utilizing data for communication activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, statistics, data science, or a related field.
  • Experience in data analysis, preferably in a communications or marketing context.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and software.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of migration issues and/or humanitarian work is an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
