JOB PURPOSE
Timor-Leste is facing worsening food security conditions, demanding urgent attention and action. The Programme Policy Officer will support WFP Timor-Leste in improving food security, nutrition, and resilience to climate change, aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- Develop and mainstream climate-sensitive concepts into WFP programmes, focusing on food security, nutrition, and livelihoods.
- Produce concept notes and proposals.
- Provide technical assistance at the intersection of food security and climate resilience.
- Support technical discussions and reporting of Results Group (RG1).
- Draft and publish analytical reports for the Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) food security analysis.
- Produce analytical outputs showcasing Timor-Leste’s food insecurity situation.
- Conduct research and desk reviews on food security issues.
- Lead coordination and drafting of corporate reporting tools.
- Identify new research areas and collaboration opportunities.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Advanced university degree in political science, development studies, or related fields; or an undergraduate degree with additional relevant experience.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of research and policy experience.
- Previous work experience with international organizations preferred.
- Professional experience in quantitative and qualitative research desired.
Languages:
- Fluency (level C) in English.
