JOB PURPOSE

Timor-Leste is facing worsening food security conditions, demanding urgent attention and action. The Programme Policy Officer will support WFP Timor-Leste in improving food security, nutrition, and resilience to climate change, aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1. Develop and mainstream climate-sensitive concepts into WFP programmes, focusing on food security, nutrition, and livelihoods.
2. Produce concept notes and proposals.
3. Provide technical assistance at the intersection of food security and climate resilience.
4. Support technical discussions and reporting of Results Group (RG1).
5. Draft and publish analytical reports for the Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) food security analysis.
6. Produce analytical outputs showcasing Timor-Leste’s food insecurity situation.
7. Conduct research and desk reviews on food security issues.
8. Lead coordination and drafting of corporate reporting tools.
9. Identify new research areas and collaboration opportunities.
10. Perform other tasks as assigned.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Advanced university degree in political science, development studies, or related fields; or an undergraduate degree with additional relevant experience.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of research and policy experience.
• Previous work experience with international organizations preferred.
• Professional experience in quantitative and qualitative research desired.

Languages:

• Fluency (level C) in English.
