OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME: The daily work will involve driving staff members in the field and official missions as well as during vaccination campaigns.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  1. Drive office vehicles to provide transportation of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items.
  2. Drive the supervisor and other officers during AFP Surveillance activities within the province.
  3. Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs, regular servicing and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean.
  4. Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumptions, oil changes, greasing, etc.
  5. Ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
  6. Performs other duties as required, including providing transport support to other areas of work and teams or the department as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Essential: At least Junior Secondary School education and a valid driver’s license of the country.

Experience:

  • Essential: At least two years driving experience as a driver and a safe driving record.
  • Desirable: UN experience would be an advantage.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations of the country and skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Ability to read, write and understand instructions in the working language and an ability to write a concise and faithful report of the accidents.

Use of Language Skills:

  • Essential: Intermediate knowledge of Portuguese.
  • Desirable: Beginner’s knowledge of English. Beginner’s knowledge of French. (The above language requirements are interchangeable.)

REMUNERATION:

  • WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at USD 22,653 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
