Description:

The United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) is seeking a qualified Finance and Budget Officer to join its team in Pristina. The Finance and Budget Officer will be responsible for managing the financial and budgetary aspects of the mission’s operations.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and monitor the mission’s financial policies and procedures in accordance with UN regulations and rules.
Prepare and review the mission’s budget proposals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
Monitor expenditure levels and provide guidance to budget managers to ensure effective financial management.
Review financial reports and statements to identify variances and propose corrective actions as necessary.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including government counterparts, donors, and other UN agencies, on financial matters.
Provide technical guidance and support to mission staff on financial regulations, policies, and procedures.
Participate in the preparation of financial reports and presentations for senior management and external partners.
Contribute to the development and implementation of internal control mechanisms to safeguard mission assets.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in finance, budget, accounting, or related area is required.
Experience working in a peacekeeping mission or other international organization is desirable.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
National of one of the Member States of the United Nations or legal resident with the right to work in Kosovo.
