Summary:

This position, located in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, Office of Counterproliferation Initiatives, is responsible for leading State Department efforts in developing, implementing, and improving counterproliferation policy programs and operations worldwide.

Duties:

  1. Policy Implementation: Acts as the initial point of contact for foreign policy analysis, development, coordination, and implementation related to nuclear-related visa screening applications.
  2. Policy Analysis and Development: Develops foreign policy related to visa vetting, specifically focusing on nuclear-related issues.
  3. Representation and Advisory Services: Serves as the primary point of contact for missions and the interagency, directing their nuclear-related visa inquiries to appropriate parties and facilitating requests as necessary.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Subject to random drug testing.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Successful completion of E-Verify employment verification check.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in international law, international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or humanities.
  • Alternatively, a combination of education and experience, including coursework equivalent to a major in the specified fields.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service, demonstrating experience in initiating and executing foreign policy issues and analyzing and developing foreign policy related to counterproliferation activities.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Knowledge of current U.S. foreign policy objectives and programs.
  • Understanding of policy implications of nuclear technology.
  • Ability to develop foreign policy.
  • Knowledge of visa screening policy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain liaison with officials at all levels.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate information from various sources.
