Overview/Summary:

As a Grants Coordinator with the IRC Tanzania country program, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the success of our programs and service delivery. Your main objectives will include supporting and coordinating program design, proposal development, grants management, internal and external communication, and partnership processes. This is a senior position at the heart of our operations, where you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of those we serve.

Your Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Collaborate with the Deputy Director of Programs to review and implement the Business Development Strategy, cultivating donor relationships and leading the development of funding proposals aligned with our strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate proposal development with field coordinators, technical leads, and finance and operations teams, ensuring compliance with donor regulations and internal standards.
  • Track upcoming opportunities and support decision-making processes for pipeline opportunities.

Grants Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure grants are implemented in compliance with IRC and donor regulations, maintaining updated grant files and coordinating modifications to agreements or projects as necessary.
  • Provide guidance on donor compliance and project management principles to program staff, facilitating training and capacity building as needed.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for grant and compliance-related questions, offering advice and support to IRC staff and partners.

Donor Relations and Communication:

  • Develop internal and external communication plans, incorporating donor visibility requirements and strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate with HQ grants teams and sectoral technical teams to ensure proposals meet internal standards and donor requirements.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with donors, partners, and other stakeholders, representing IRC Tanzania at donor meetings and events.

Staff Management and Capacity Building:

  • Supervise the Grants Team, providing training and guidance on donor compliance, report writing, proposal development, and partnership management.
  • Participate in recruiting and mentoring Grants staff, ensuring regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback.

Job Requirements:

  • Post-graduate qualification/degree in a relevant discipline, with at least five to seven years of experience in grants management and resource mobilization.
  • Strong understanding of donor regulations and priorities, including experience working with UN agencies, governments, and other institutional donors.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience in team management and capacity building, as well as consortium management, is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in Kiswahili considered an advantage.

Working Environment:

  • Security level yellow – The situation in most of the country is calm, with some areas experiencing insecurity such as highway banditry in Kigoma.
