About the Role:

Are you ready to lead the charge in providing crucial health support to communities in Central Africa? As our Health Regional Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our health programs across the region. Join us and make a real difference where it’s needed most.

Overview:

As the Health Regional Lead, you’ll provide strategic direction and technical expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality health services in Central Africa. Working closely with our global and regional teams, you’ll lead a dedicated team of technical advisors, fostering collaboration, innovation, and learning to drive positive change for our clients.

Your Responsibilities:

Functional Leadership and Coordination:

  • Provide technical leadership across the region, aligning health strategies with country-specific action plans and global program goals.
  • Foster coherence and strategic direction within the health portfolio, identifying opportunities for integration and innovation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address implementation challenges and drive quality assurance.

Staff Management and Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team of health regional technical advisors, ensuring they maintain core knowledge and apply best practices.
  • Work with HR colleagues to attract and develop diverse talent, creating an inclusive work environment that fosters growth and learning.

Program Design and Business Development:

  • Provide technical oversight for region-led business development initiatives, driving innovation and promoting evidence-based practice.
  • Collaborate with partners to identify strategic opportunities and cultivate new donor relationships.
  • Support the growth of strategic partnerships, maximizing impact and scale across health programming areas.

Knowledge Management and External Influence:

  • Facilitate program learning and evidence-sharing across the region, informing global strategic direction and practice.
  • Engage in regional sector coordination and advocacy efforts, representing IRC and advocating for policy and practice shifts.
  • Foster relationships with donors, policymakers, and other stakeholders to advance programmatic goals and influence sector-wide change.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • At least 8+ years of progressive technical and management experience in leading health programs.
  • Established technical expertise in health practice areas relevant to Central Africa, with a strong understanding of the regional context.
  • Proven track record of driving evidence-based practice and influencing diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing business development initiatives and converting opportunities into successful partnerships.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cultures and departments.
  • Fluency in English and French required.
  • Ability to travel regionally and globally up to 35% of the time.
