The internship will take place in ADDIS ABABA.

Expected Duration:

Duties and responsibilities:

The intern will be expected to:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of digital communication strategies.
  • Support the management of social media platforms and online campaigns.
  • Contribute to the creation and dissemination of multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and written materials.
  • Monitor and analyze digital media metrics, and prepare reports on audience engagement.
  • Assist in maintaining the organization’s website and other digital platforms.
  • Provide general support to the public information team as needed.

Qualifications/Special Skills:

  • Currently enrolled in a university degree program (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in communications, journalism, digital media, international relations, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management tools.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and video editing software is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.


Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or other UN languages is an advantage.

  • This internship is unpaid and full-time.
  • The intern is responsible for arranging their own accommodation and covering any related expenses.
  • The internship does not guarantee employment with the United Nations.

Intern Specific Text:

The intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital communications within the context of international affairs and diplomacy. They will work closely with experienced professionals and contribute to meaningful projects that support the work of the United Nations Office for the African Union.
