About the Position:

• Position: Member of the WMO Audit and Oversight Committee
• Duty Station: Geneva, Switzerland
• Commencement of Duty: To be determined
• Nature of Appointment: Variable, mandate of three years
• Organizational Unit: WMO Audit and Oversight Committee

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a member of the Audit and Oversight Committee, you will:

• Provide objective advice and recommendations to the WMO Executive Council and the Secretary-General on financial management, internal control systems, risk management, audit processes, and compliance with financial rules and regulations.
• Contribute to monitoring compliance with the Framework of Ethics and relevant policies and procedures.
• Ensure the integrity and transparency of WMO’s financial and operational activities.

Qualifications:

• Education: Expertise in financial, risk, audit, and oversight governance matters.
• Experience: Extensive professional experience in financial, risk, audit, oversight, ethics, investigation, and governance matters, with a balanced mix of public and private sector experience at the senior level.
• Other Requirements: Independence from WMO management, impeccable impartiality, and the ability to contribute effectively to the Committee’s functions.
• Languages: Excellent written and oral knowledge of English.

Additional Information:

• Former WMO staff cannot be appointed to the Committee for at least five years following their separation from the Organization.
• Members serve for a period of three years and may be re-appointed for an additional three-year term, with a maximum service limit of six years.
• Travel and subsistence costs for attending Committee meetings will be covered by WMO if required.
