Summary

The National Account Manager (NAM) position at Zevia involves building a portfolio of high-growth, quality key account businesses in the assigned geography. The NAM will primarily handle HQ responsibilities for Loblaws Companies Limited and Metro Inc. HQ customers. The ideal candidate should possess detailed knowledge and a successful track record in managing and growing businesses with customers in traditional grocery and natural grocery channels. While having sales experience with Loblaws Company Limited and/or other large Grocery and Mass accounts in Canada is a plus, it is not mandatory. The NAM should excel in building productive business relationships through effective communication and possess analytical and engaging qualities. Storytelling, critical listening skills, and a strategic mindset are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Tailor strategy and programs for assigned customers, focusing on KPIs like price, promotion execution, and quality distribution.
  • Build and sell programs to local decision-makers.
  • Create and manage account budgets.
  • Develop win-win business solutions resonating with both retailers and consumers.
  • Construct customer-facing PowerPoint presentations in collaboration with the Category Development Team.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews.
  • Provide category insights to drive changes in promotion, price, or display practices.
  • Offer feedback to local decision-makers on relevant developments or successes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding accounts and competition.
  • Provide forecasting and planning input for the territory.
  • Set distribution goals and manage promotional trade spend with retailers.
  • Educate, train, and interact with distributor representatives on Zevia’s products and sales strategies.
  • Support distributor trade shows as needed.

Requirements

  • Represent Zevia with passion, enthusiasm, and a growth mindset.
  • Build distribution following company strategy.
  • Ensure assigned accounts’ schematics align with Zevia standards.
  • Sell Zevia’s optimum price program using best practices and tools.
  • Implement promotions with point of sale and incremental displays.
  • Construct annual Customer Marketing Agreements and manage associated funds.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews to update accounts on business and identify opportunities.
  • Provide category insights for promotional and display practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of accounts and competition.
  • Provide forecasting and planning input.
  • Create distribution goals and manage promotional trade spend.
  • Educate and train distributor representatives on Zevia’s products.
  • Support distributor trade shows.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 3-year university degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of similar industry experience.
  • Previous representation and sales experience in the region.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven track record of building, presenting, and implementing creative programming.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and time management skills.
  • Self-driven, able to work independently, and make informed decisions.
  • Team-first attitude.
  • Experience with syndicated data sources (LDIA, IRI/Circana, Nielsen).
  • Competent computer skills including Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to positively influence others and build relationships.
  • Awareness and passion for the healthier beverage segment.
  • Experience in various channels like conventional and natural grocery.
  • Knowledge of beverage category product distribution and logistics.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not currently have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Under normal operations, this position operates in a home office environment for 60% of the time. The role has travel requirements of up to 40%, focusing on attending customer HQ appointments and trade shows.

Physical Demands

The employee may occasionally be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
