Description of the Assignment:

The proposed Big 5 Nature Reserve is located in the north-eastern part of the Kingdom of Eswatini in the Lubombo region. This project aims to support the concept of Protected Landscapes in Eswatini by enhancing the management and conservation of the Lubombo Landscape. It involves merging 83,329 hectares of private and public land for conservation and tourism purposes, thereby contributing to the Eswatini economy. The goal is to create a large park by combining adjoining properties with existing wildlife or potential to support wildlife and wildlife reserves in the Lubombo. This resulting park will offer enhanced benefits for both tourists and wildlife, becoming a tourism hub providing various wildlife and nature experiences. The project is structured around three components:

1. Establishment of Eswatini’s Big Five Reserve
2. Ecotourism Infrastructure and Product Development
3. Human-Wildlife Conflict Management and Livelihoods Improvement

Period of assignment/services: 40 Working Days
