Position: National Consultant for Coordinating, Facilitating, and Conducting Trainings for Representatives of Judiciary in the Field of Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW)

Expected Duration of Assignment:

Background: UN Women is committed to eliminating discrimination against women and girls and achieving gender equality. In Serbia, there is a need to address gender-based violence comprehensively, including its digital dimensions. UN Women, in collaboration with various partners, initiated the project “Combating Violence Against Women and Girls in Serbia” to implement educational and analytical activities. This project aims to enhance awareness, capacity, and legal and regulatory systems to combat violence against women and girls, including in the digital space.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Coordinate with the Judicial Academy and UN Women regarding participant invitations and training organizations.
• Prepare workshops tailored for representatives of the judiciary involved in combating gender-based violence, focusing on predicate gender-based crimes.
• Facilitate and conduct five two-day trainings for representatives of the judiciary and Judicial Academy students.
• Provide input for the training curriculum and agenda.
• Contribute to the preparation of comprehensive reports on the conducted trainings.

Deliverables:

1. The training curriculum, agenda, and evaluation form for participants (in Serbian) are due by April 14, 2024.
2. The midterm report on conducting two trainings is due by June 20, 2024.
3. Comprehensive Report on conducted training, including evaluation results (in English)—due by November 5, 2024.

Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel: This is a home-based consultancy with up to 5 trips to Belgrade and surrounding areas. All travel expenses will be covered by UN Women.

• Excellent knowledge of VAW legal proceedings and practices
• Good knowledge of gender equality and women’s rights issues
• Strong analytical skills
• Good communication, presentation, networking, and advocacy skills

Required Skills and Experience:

• Education: at least a bachelor’s degree in law; a master’s degree is an asset.
• Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in conducting criminal legal proceedings related to violence against women; minimum 5 years of experience in conducting trainings and workshops on VAWG; sound knowledge of predicate gender-based crimes; previous experience working with UN Agencies and the Judicial Academy.
• Languages: fluency in written and oral Serbian and English.
