Make an Impact:

Are you passionate about advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment through legal reform? Here’s your chance to be part of a transformative initiative with UN Women in Albania. We’re seeking dedicated legal expert(s) to support the review of the Gender Equality Law (GEL) and contribute to shaping a more inclusive and just society.

Why It Matters:

Gender equality is not just a goal; it’s a fundamental human right. By revising the GEL, we aim to strengthen legal frameworks that protect and promote gender equality, ensuring that women and girls have equal access to opportunities and rights. Your expertise and dedication will help pave the way for a more equitable future for all Albanians.

Your Role:

As a National Legal Consultant with UN Women, you’ll play a pivotal role in the revision of the GEL. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert inputs and recommendations to strengthen key aspects of the existing GEL, including anti-discrimination provisions and legal remedies.
  • Drafting and reviewing provisions of the GEL, drawing on best practices and examples from other countries, particularly those on a similar path of EU accession.
  • Engaging in regular meetings with the inter-ministerial working group on the GEL, facilitating dialogue and collaboration.
  • Preparing presentations, briefs, and reports in English and Albanian, contributing to public consultations and advocacy efforts.

Your Impact:

Your contributions will directly influence the legal framework for gender equality in Albania, shaping policies and practices that promote women’s rights and empowerment. By ensuring that the GEL is aligned with international standards and best practices, you’ll help create an enabling environment for gender equality to thrive.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking candidates with:

  • A Master’s degree in Human Rights, Law, International Relations, Gender Studies, or related fields.
  • At least ten years of experience in drafting legislation and supporting legal reforms, with a focus on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Experience in approximation of legislation with EU and international law, preferably within the context of EU accession.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Albanian and English, with excellent communication and analytical skills.
