Standard Job Description: PPH Associate

Organizational Setting and Work Relationships:

The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) operates within UNHCR’s Division of External Relations (DER) and is dedicated to mobilizing resources for refugees from the private sector. The focus of Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) colleagues is to build long-term partnerships with companies, foundations, and private philanthropists. This involves securing funding for UNHCR programs, leveraging capacities beyond funding, and providing support to persons of concern (POC).

Duties:

  • Support the outreach and engagement of PPH donors.
  • Assist in drafting compelling proposals, reports, and materials targeting PPH donors.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of UNHCR’s engagement with the private sector.
  • Prepare research and materials for meetings with prospects and donor partners.
  • Assist in the development of donor recognition and acknowledgment tools.
  • Maintain information on donor partners and prospects, including tracking income raised.
  • Use the Salesforce database to monitor PPH activity and maintain partnership records.
  • Research and identify new prospects for fundraising initiatives.
  • Stay informed about local fundraising environments and humanitarian issues.
  • Support fundraising for emergencies and comply with UNHCR due diligence procedures.
  • Assist in financial reporting and support the development of private sector engagement activities.
  • Support the organization of donor missions to field operations and promotional campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years relevant experience with a high school diploma or 2 years relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in an international environment, humanitarian organization, or development organization.
  • Ability to produce high-quality written materials tailored to specific audiences.
  • Ability to balance multiple needs and deadlines and function well in a multicultural environment.
  • Knowledge of partnerships, fundraising, and/or relationships with donors and/or external partners.

Functional Skills:

  • Multi-stakeholder communications with partners, government, & community.
  • Computer Literacy.
  • Emergency Fundraising.
  • Fundraising targets high-net-worth individuals (HNWI).
  • Fundraising materials production and management.
  • Partnerships and individual giving programs.

Language Requirements:

  • English proficiency is required.
  • French-language skills are desirable.

Desired Candidate Profile:

The PPH Associate will primarily focus on proposal writing and prospect research for the Major Gifts team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing content creation for the PPH team, including custom proposals for major donors.
  • Leading prospect research to identify potential donors with a high propensity to give to UNHCR.
  • Managing and updating content on the team’s donation and web pages on the UNHCR Canada website.
