Terms of Reference

Organizational Context:
The Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) unit in MENA focuses on raising funds and awareness from the private sector across the MENA region. Based in the UAE, the PSP unit advocates for refugees and other people of concern using various engagement channels.

The Position:
The PSP unit seeks an enthusiastic team player for a three-month internship within UNHCR’s PSP unit as part of the campaign and advocacy team. The intern will work closely with the campaigns team and other members of the private sector partnerships section, supporting the development of UNHCR’s brand image, campaign communications, public engagement strategies, and digital outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Screening & due diligence of partners and digital content creators.
  • Organizing, archiving, and systemizing existing information of UNHCR supporters and influencers.
  • Drafting presentations, proposals, decks, and toolkits for social media influencers related to UNHCR campaigns.
  • Drafting social media captions and messaging for influencers.
  • Researching new and niche media outreach.
  • Drafting and reviewing communications material such as PR, talking points, social media content, and campaign collateral.
  • Support in the procurement of services for creative campaigns, media buying, media training, etc.
  • Other tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Professional Experience Required:

  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in mass communications, journalism, PR, marketing, or humanities.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape in the region.
  • Passion for refugee affairs and UNHCR’s work.
  • Awareness of humanitarian affairs and excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Attention to detail and a results-oriented team player.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.

Location:
The successful candidate will be based with the team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Eligibility:

  • Recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a UNESCO-accredited university.
  • Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies.
  • Not have immediate relatives working for UNHCR as a staff member or affiliate at the time of application.

Conditions:

  • Three-month internship with possible extension.
  • Full-time role with specified working hours.
  • Candidates must arrange their own residency visa in Dubai.
  • Proof of vaccination against Covid-19 required.
  • Interns receive an allowance to cover living expenses.

Additional Information:

  • Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory.
  • Open to Emirati Nationals and candidates holding valid residency upon applying.
