Standard Job Description

Organizational Setting and Work Relationships: As a Resettlement Assistant (Interpreter), you will be based at a Multi-Country Office, Branch Office, or Field Office. Your role will be to assist in the effective delivery of resettlement services according to UNHCR guidelines. This includes providing administrative support, assisting in case assessments, and maintaining communication with relevant stakeholders.

Duties:

  • Prepare documentation for resettlement submissions and maintain updated records of individual cases.
  • Assess and review resettlement cases, preparing submissions for supervisor review.
  • Follow up on cases from submission to final decision and departure.
  • Ensure compliance with UNHCR’s standard operating procedures on resettlement.
  • Assist in logistical arrangements for selection missions by resettlement countries.
  • Coordinate travel and departure arrangements for refugees accepted for resettlement.
  • Maintain and update databases related to resettlement.
  • Occasionally assist in conducting preliminary interviews and assessments for resettlement.
  • Provide counselling to persons of concern.
  • Provide administrative support for resettlement-related training activities and workshops.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate resettlement statistics and preparing reports.
  • Systematically apply an Age, Gender, and Diversity perspective in all aspects of resettlement processes.
  • Assist in mitigating resettlement fraud by reporting suspected cases.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • G4 – 1 year relevant experience with High School Diploma; or Bachelor or equivalent or higher

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Legal presence in Trinidad and Tobago at the time of recruitment.
  • Proof of vaccination against Covid-19 required for recruitment.
  • Levels of language knowledge: B2 level in English and Spanish.
