Are you passionate about addressing forced displacement and migration issues in Latin America and the Caribbean? The Statistical Conference of the Americas (SCA), part of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), is seeking a dynamic consultant to provide technical support to its Working Group on Forced Displacement and Migration.

Terms of Reference: This consultancy offers an opportunity for remote work within any country in Latin America. The selected consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination of the Working Group’s activities and executing its work plan. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting comparative analysis of information needs and statistical indicators relevant to global agendas such as the Global Compact on Migration and the Global Compact on Refugees.
  2. Assessing the production of prioritized indicators by Working Group members and identifying challenges and opportunities for data collection.
  3. Designing and conducting preparatory activities for building an inventory of data sources on forcibly displaced populations.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in statistics, demographics, social sciences, or related fields. A first-level university degree with two years of qualifying experience can be accepted.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in producing official statistics at national, regional, or international institutions.
  • Expertise in producing official statistics on displacement and migration.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Familiarity with international policy instruments governing displacement and migration.
  • Ability to coordinate with governmental entities and conduct independent research.
