Millions of South Africans depend on social grants to finance their purchases of essential goods and services. Each month’s first day sees the distribution of grants by the South African Social Security Agency. Dates for the April 2023 SASSA Grants Payments.

Over 29 million South Africans rely on government grants, and 11 million of them receive the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, also known as the R350 grant. SRD grants are provided by the government to assist the most vulnerable in South Africa in meeting their basic needs.

The grant payments for April 2023 will take place between 3 April 2023 and 5 April 2023.

The second of every month is when grant payments are made, but because 2 April falls on a weekend, April 2023 grant payments will begin on Monday, 3 April 2023.

Grant payment dates for April 2023:

  • Older Persons Grant – Monday, 3 April 2023
  • Disability Grants – Tuesday, 4 April 2023
  • Children’s Grants – Wednesday, 5 April 2023

Grant beneficiaries do not need to collect their grants on the day they are due. Until the beneficiary uses the grant money, it will remain in their account.

Different payment methods can be used to collect grants. In addition, grants can be collected at ATMs or at retailers such as Shoprite, Checkers, U-Save, Pick ‘n Pay, and Boxer.Beneficiaries may receive their money through a bank account, SASSA card, CashSend, or a post office.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) provides the following support grants:

  • Care dependency grant
  • Child support grant
  • Disability grant
  • Foster child grant
  • Grant-In-Aid
  • Older persons grant
  • War veterans grant

On the Sassa website you can apply for these grants if you need them. There are different requirements for different types of grants, so make sure you meet the requirements for the grant you wish to apply for.You can also appeal a grant rejection through the Sassa website if your application is rejected.
