The fastest way to activate your personal credit card is with your online banking ID and access code at bankofamerica.com. BOA will confirm your identity, verify your card and help you get started. If you don’t already use Online Banking, simply sign in to activate your credit card.

If you already bank online at bankofamerica.com, simply sign in with your online banking ID and access code to speed up the activation process.

When you receive your card, please read all the information carefully to ensure that the card is activated and used correctly. We recommend that you activate your card immediately.

Getting started with online enrollment

Stay on top of your finances with our secure online banking. Signing up is easy and you can also use the same password for our Mobile Banking app.

1. Go to bankofamerica.com and click Enroll.
2. Fill in all the required information and select Continue.
3. Enter your email address and we’ll send you a code to verify your identity, then select Send code.
4. Enter the authorization code and click Submit.
5. Review and confirm the electronic disclosure and click Continue.
6. Read and confirm the Online Banking Service Agreement and click Continue.
7. Create your new Online ID and Access Code and select Continue.
8. Select if you want us to remember the device you are using. If you are using a public computer, select No. Then click Continue.
9. Congratulations! You are now enrolled in online banking and ready to log in with your new online ID and access code.
10. Once you have completed your login, you will be redirected to your accounts summary page. You can use the same ID and access code to sign in to the Mobile Banking app.

How can I transfer my funds to my checking or savings account?

You can transfer all or part of your benefits to your checking or savings account by making a one-time or recurring transfer online at www.bankofamerica.com/eddcard or by calling customer service at 1.866.692.9374. Please note that under no circumstances will Employment Development contact you to request your personal bank account details. You must make any instant transfer request through Bank of America.

How do I use my EDD Debit Card?

To use a card with only a magnetic stripe:

Purchases with a PIN:

1. Swipe your card.
2. Choose ‘cancel’. and enter your PIN.
3. If you want cash, select the amount and it will be added to your purchase.
4. Bring your card, cash, and receipt.

To get cash or check your balance at an ATM:

1. Insert your card and enter your PIN
2. Select “check” to withdraw money or “check” and “request balance” to check your balance
3. Enter the amount you want to withdraw
4. Take your card, cash and receipt

Purchases with a signature:

1. Present or swipe your card.
2. Choose ‘credit’.
3. Sign, take your card and receipt.

To use a chip-enabled card (new and replacement cards, only):

1. Insert your card into the terminal.
2. Follow the prompts to complete the transaction. You may be asked to enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) or verify the transaction as you normally would. If you want a refund from a merchant, choose “debit” and enter your PIN, and the amount entered will be added to your purchase if your balance is sufficient. Otherwise, you can select credit.
3. Remove your card from the terminal once your transaction is complete.
   If a terminal does not have a chip, you can use your card and follow the instructions indicated.

To get cash at a Visa bank and credit union:

1. Ask the counter clerk for a “Visa Manual Cash Withdrawal”.
2. Present your card and say how much you want from your available balance. The ATM will not charge you for this service.
3. Bring your card, cash, and receipt.
