What is the history of WorldFish?

We have come a long way from our origin as a fisheries research center at the University of Hawaii, established in 1975. We are a global research and innovation institution whose contributions to the sustainable development of fisheries and aquaculture in low- and middle-income countries are internationally recognized.
Which country catches the most fish in the world?

China

By far the country with the biggest fish production is China, which supplied nearly 86 million metric tons of fish to the world in 2021, about 40% of global supply. Chinese fishing vessels can be found fishing as far away from home as Argentina—sometimes illegally—to keep up with demand.
What are the values of WorldFish?

We are driven by our LEAD values (Learning, Excellence, Accountability and Diversity) and strive to be a thriving and inclusive community of diverse people committed to learning and innovation, and with passion for making a difference in the world.
