OpenAI connects ChatGPT to the internet
OpenAI recently released plugins for ChatGPT that allow access to third-party knowledge sources and databases, including the Internet. The plugin is currently available in Alpha for ChatGPT developers. Users must first join the ChatGPT plugins waiting list.
As of now, OpenAI is only making the plugin available to a select number of ChatGPT Plus customers and developers in order to gather feedback and understand their perspectives before rolling out the plugin to a larger number of users and providing API access.

Similarly, they might spread inaccurate or misleading information while having complete access to users’ personal data. Thus, connecting AI chatbots like ChatGPT or any other AI system might be risky.
Bias and control
OpenAI’s ChatGPT is fed with datasets that contain reliable and high-quality information and data. By granting internet access there is a potential the system might start taking control over conversational data which could produce biased content and might lead to generating inappropriate or inaccurate outputs.
These can affect the content’s overall performance, questioning its credibility and accuracy. Generally, Artificial intelligence Chatbots seem better off without access to the internet as this way the chatbot is less likely to generate biased content.
Quality of Data
At times, the information and data available on the internet can be inaccurate and unreliable. So, if an AI chat service like ChatGPT is allowed access to the web it might fetch inaccurate information, which can lead to the creation of misleading or incorrect data, which can raise major questions about the credibility of the content.
Therefore, granting complete internet access might risk the quality and reliability of the data the chatbot uses and shares with its users.
