Main Responsibilities:

Support Contracting Parties in the development of new National Action Plans (NAPs) for the period 2025-2035 under Article 5 of the LBS Protocol.

Key Duties:

  1. Provide technical assistance to Contracting Parties in drafting and finalizing the new NAPs in line with the requirements of the LBS Protocol.
  2. Facilitate consultations and workshops with relevant stakeholders to gather inputs for the development of NAPs.
  3. Conduct research and analysis on best practices and lessons learned in the development and implementation of NAPs for sustainable environmental management.
  4. Assist in the formulation of strategies, policies, and action plans to address priority issues identified in the NAPs.
  5. Support the monitoring and evaluation of NAP implementation, including the development of indicators and reporting mechanisms.
  6. Collaborate with other international organizations and partners working on similar initiatives to promote synergies and knowledge sharing.
  7. Provide capacity-building support to national institutions and stakeholders involved in NAP development and implementation.
  8. Prepare progress reports, briefing notes, and other communication materials as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, environmental management, sustainable development, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental policy development, project management, or related areas.
  • Strong knowledge of international environmental agreements and protocols, particularly the LBS Protocol.
  • Experience in facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations and workshops.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
