Main Responsibilities:
Support Contracting Parties in the development of new National Action Plans (NAPs) for the period 2025-2035 under Article 5 of the LBS Protocol.
Key Duties:
- Provide technical assistance to Contracting Parties in drafting and finalizing the new NAPs in line with the requirements of the LBS Protocol.
- Facilitate consultations and workshops with relevant stakeholders to gather inputs for the development of NAPs.
- Conduct research and analysis on best practices and lessons learned in the development and implementation of NAPs for sustainable environmental management.
- Assist in the formulation of strategies, policies, and action plans to address priority issues identified in the NAPs.
- Support the monitoring and evaluation of NAP implementation, including the development of indicators and reporting mechanisms.
- Collaborate with other international organizations and partners working on similar initiatives to promote synergies and knowledge sharing.
- Provide capacity-building support to national institutions and stakeholders involved in NAP development and implementation.
- Prepare progress reports, briefing notes, and other communication materials as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in environmental science, environmental management, sustainable development, or related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental policy development, project management, or related areas.
- Strong knowledge of international environmental agreements and protocols, particularly the LBS Protocol.
- Experience in facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations and workshops.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
