Overview of the Functions of the Post:
The Consultant for Public Information will provide communication expertise to raise visibility of the UNESCO-EU partnership. They will assist the Liaison Office in Brussels with outreach and advocacy functions towards European institutions and partners.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Contribute to timely communication on UNESCO activities relevant to the EU and the UNESCO-EU Partnership.
- Maintain and update the office’s website and social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) and monitor monthly visibility activity results.
- Prepare news articles, stories, and social media content about the UNESCO-EU partnership and activities.
- Develop specific media content and promotional campaigns for UNESCO-led events in cooperation with project officers and communication lead partners.
- Assist in enhancing the working relationship with the United Nations team in Brussels and liaise with relevant UNESCO divisions and field offices.

Required Qualifications:
- Advanced University degree (Master’s or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, or political science.
- Minimum of three years of working experience in public information, media relations, journalism, or international development cooperation, with at least one year in an international environment.
- Previous experience in writing news and managing social media platforms.
- Very good understanding of European institutions and their functioning.
- Excellent knowledge of social media platforms and design software such as Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a multicultural environment.
- Fluency in English and French (written and spoken).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish).
Contract duration and deliverables:
The contract duration is 11 months. The consultant will report monthly on visibility activities and the performance of the website and social media accounts.
