Purpose of Consultancy: The Health Equity Data Consultant will provide technical support within the framework of Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Development-funded project (DFATD) to enhance health equity and gender equality, particularly focusing on marginalized populations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Description of duties:
- Strategically plan and provide technical support for the implementation of DFATD-funded projects in Central America, monitoring progress, and generating summary reports.
- Assist in designing and implementing activities under the “Data for Equity” project, emphasizing the incorporation of gender and ethnicity dimensions in health information systems related to vaccine coverage and sexual and reproductive health.
- Support capacity development activities for collecting disaggregated data and conducting intersectional analyses to identify barriers to vaccine coverage and access.
- Collaborate in the development of reports, briefs, and technical documentation related to health equity frameworks and strategic health plans.
- Participate in policy-related forums and networking opportunities, representing the Equity, Gender, Human Rights, and Cultural Diversity Unit.
- Collaborate with the Health Equity Advisor in grant seeking and proposal writing.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, public policy, social sciences, or a related field.
- Strong technical background in health equity, policy analysis, and quantitative statistical methods.
- Minimum of ten years of experience in public health programs and policies, including applied research and capacity development activities.
- Track record of at least ten publications.
- Experience working with international organizations and countries in the Americas.
- Fluency in Spanish and English and knowledge of French and/or Portuguese are desirable.

- Ability to work effectively in large teams and intercultural environments.
- Proficiency in writing technical documents in English.
Remuneration: Monthly Salary: $6,273
