The Organization:

Main Function:

As a member of the IT shared services team for Central America, the IT Support Technician is responsible for providing technical support to users, managing the maintenance of local networks and technological infrastructure according to regional operational strategies and plans.

Responsibilities:
Planning, Processes, and Governance:

  • Contribute to the development of the department’s strategic planning.
  • Assist in the development of annual technology operational plans.
  • Contribute to the development of information and technology processes, suggesting improvements and providing training to users as needed.
  • Understand information and technology policies and ensure compliance.
  • Support the planning and development of internal audits.
  • Contribute to a culture of identifying and reducing organizational risk.
  • Ensure compliance with actions resulting from administrative area audits.

Equipment and Infrastructure (Hardware):

  • Maintain detailed inventory of hardware infrastructure.
  • Manage the lifespan of computer equipment, optimizing use and planning for replacement.
  • Ensure that computer equipment meets specified acquisition requirements.
  • Plan and perform preventive technical maintenance on all computer equipment.
  • Install computer equipment.
  • Coordinate necessary installations (electrical, physical, computer centers) for computer equipment installation.
  • Train users on the proper use and handling of installed computer equipment.

Software Configuration and Maintenance:

  • Maintain an inventory of installed software (programs) in the institution.
  • Train users on the proper use and handling of installed computer programs.
  • User management (creation and maintenance).
  • Install computer programs used, ensuring the availability of required licenses and their periodic update.
  • Establish automated configurations for backup processes.
  • Support the identification of tools for system management (programming languages and database management systems) to comply with processes.

Security:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Security Plan.
  • Contribute to the development and establishment of appropriate security processes for programs and databases.
  • Ensure the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of information.
  • Ensure compliance with the security policy through the development, maintenance, and application of a specific security plan for the country.
  • Maintain user access and system access passwords for company users.
  • Ensure that security-related aspects are considered when selecting contractors.
  • Monitor the implementation and use of information security mechanisms on a daily basis.
  • Support investigations of computer security incidents.
  • Participate in IT projects adding all computer security considerations.

Development and Implementation of Technological Solutions:

  • Contribute to the development of the plan for the development of technological solutions in line with the IT strategy.
  • Support the establishment of an effective design, development, and implementation process for projects through the IT component.
  • Contribute ideas for digital solutions to streamline processes.
  • Contribute to documentation: guides, instructions, system manuals, and/or IT process.

Requirements:

  • Advanced studies in Computer Science or related fields.
  • 3 years of experience in similar positions.
  • Experience in the management and execution of information systems and support technologies with user interaction.
  • Ability to streamline project lifecycle with information technology elements; systems, databases.
  • Experience in technical support for computers, both Software in Windows operating systems, and Hardware.
  • Knowledge of programming languages for both web and desktop applications.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Demonstrated capacity and experience in LAN and telecommunications networks, SQL Server, and administration of email servers.
  • Experience in Microsoft server administration.

Physical Environment:
The organization provides an appropriate office environment according to hygiene and safety standards. Approximately 30% of annual time will be spent traveling to support program units as needed.
