Job Title: Research and Evidence Project Manager (Maternity Cover)

Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract, Full-Time

Salary: £45,579–£47,858 per annum with excellent benefits

Location: London, UK (Hybrid Working)

About the role:

As the Research and Evidence Project Manager, you will oversee specific research projects within the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector in a development setting. Your role will involve project management, coordination, and delivery, with a focus on financial oversight and contractual obligations. Additionally, you will advance WaterAid’s Research and Evidence Agenda in alignment with the new Global Strategy and support Country programs with their research activities. This role demands a blend of skills in project management, academia, technical advisory, and research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver select research projects within the WASH sector
  • Provide research support and ensure quality assurance
  • Contribute to the development of research guidance and standards
  • Support fundraising, external engagement, and communications efforts
  • Assist in team processes and coordination

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in applied research or project management in a policy-oriented or action-oriented research setting
  • Master’s degree in social science or a relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong background in water, sanitation, hygiene, public health, or a related sector
  • Experience in project management, coordination, and financial oversight
  • Ability to write and present research outputs effectively to various audiences
  • Experience managing funding from institutional donors such as USAID
  • Excellent communication skills and relationship management abilities
  • Cultural competence and alignment with WaterAid’s values
