Texas DPS – Schedule Appointment

To make an appointment, click on “Make an Appointment” at the bottom of the https //public.txdpsscheduler com/ page. Existing appointments can also be canceled or moved via “Edit Appointment” below.

To make a new appointment, you must acknowledge that your personal data will be stored.

Priority is given to customers by appointment. All other customers will be served on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on your service request.

Only same day and next day appointments are available (for example, on Mondays, appointments are available for Mondays and Tuesdays)

Dealers, title service companies and their “brokers” are not eligible to book appointments. Appointments booked by these entities will be canceled

Driver License Services – Appointments

The department offers all driver license (DL) and identification card (ID) services in the office by appointment only. These services include renewal transactions. Please review the following information before scheduling your appointment below.

If your driver’s license expires before April 14, 2021 and you have already scheduled an appointment, you may apply for a temporary driver’s permit to drive a motor vehicle until your appointment date. This extension does not apply to the holder of a commercial driver’s license (CDL). In order to process your request, your request must be submitted via our contact page. When submitting your request, please complete all required fields and include the following information in the questions section of the form:

• Date of your appointment.
• Indicate that you are applying for a temporary license (applications that do not reference this will not be processed).

To be eligible for a temporary driver’s license, the driver’s license must:

• Be a Texas driver’s license
• Qualify”
• Not be a commercial driver’s license
• Have no active suspensions or open fines.
• Have expired on or before April 14, 2021.

NOTE: The temporary permit provided is a one-time favor until your scheduled appointment.

Driver License Services – Appointments

The department encourages all eligible customers to complete their driver license services online. For more information, visit our webpage on driver’s licenses, renewals, waivers and Covid-19 information.

To assist clients who require DL services, designated offices offer extended hours from 7 am to 7 pm. Monday to Thursday and from 07:00 to 17:30. on Friday, through August 31, 2021.

To ensure the safety of all clients and staff at our driver license office, please comply with the following prior to your appointment:

• Services are by scheduled appointment only. Walk-in appointments are available on a limited basis at all driver license office locations.
• If you are having trouble scheduling an appointment on a preferred day, please note that all DL offices have a limited number of available same-day appointments on a first-come, first-served basis, which fill up quickly. Clients who book these appointments in the office will be able to leave and return at the agreed time. Those who do not have an appointment will receive instructions and assistance in making an appointment for a future date and time.
• All customers visiting the driver license office are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering
• Social distancing must be followed (6 feet apart)
• Only patrons are allowed in the building, with the following exceptions:
  • ADA accommodations
  • Clients with small children
  • Old people
  • Business needs (parental consent, change of residence/address, etc.)
• Credit cards are the preferred means of payment. Money orders, cashiers and personal checks are accepted (for the appropriate amount)
