Position Purpose:

As a Commercial Scheduler within the Low Carbon Fuel and Products Trading team at Shell, you play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR). Collaborating closely with the biofuels team, including the Biofuels Trader, and counterparts, your primary responsibility is to efficiently manage the movement of ethanol products across the country. Additionally, you’ll be accountable for maintaining equity terminal inventory levels and overseeing third-party sales. This role offers flexibility, allowing a hybrid schedule with the option to work two days from home and three days from the Shell Centre in Calgary.

Situated within the Trading Operations team, Trading and Supply (T&S) form the backbone of Shell’s Downstream business. T&S is dedicated to managing and optimizing the physical supply chain, aiming to deliver the right product to the right place on time while maximizing overall profit margins for Shell. This role contributes to integrating Shell’s Trading, Supply & Distribution, and Commercial Fuels in Canada into one fully cohesive business, creating and capturing end-to-end value for Downstream.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Demand Coordination and Forecasting:

    • Collaborate with the supply team and trader to coordinate and forecast demand.
    • Manage quarterly and annual purchase optionality and inventory positions effectively.
  2. Supply Activity Execution:

    • Ensure consistent product quality handling in compliance with local requirements, Shell HSSE, and product quality standards.
    • Execute supply activities in a cost-effective and efficient manner for the assigned region.
  3. Monthly Meetings and Reporting:

    • Lead monthly meetings with T&S and compliance to outline current and forecast positions based on supply movements and projected lifts.
  4. Logistics and Transport Optimization:

    • Deliver operational excellence by optimizing logistics and transport, creating commercial value.
  5. Demurrage Target Achievement:

    • Effectively communicate and interface with vendors to meet demurrage targets.
  6. Service Levels and Risk Management:

    • Meet service levels, minimize runouts, and manage back-office processes to avoid late bookings, late payment, and P&L swings.
    • Mitigate product quality incidents.
  7. Supplier Relationship Management:

    • Manage supplier relationships through effective communication.
  8. Continuous Improvement:

    • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset by challenging norms and seeking ways to enhance existing processes.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or another relevant field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years working experience in a similar capacity, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Availability: Ability to be on call for emergencies as required.
  • Work Authorization: Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for any employer.

How You Match:

  • Detail-oriented and proactive individual with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective interfacing with various stakeholders.
  • Commercial understanding of the business and ability to add value through strategic decision-making.
